Self Care in Sutherland Shire

I talk a lot about self care here. But that’s because I really cannot overstate how important it is. So I want to share with you locals near me, where I go for self care in the Sutherland Shire.

Self care doesn’t have to mean weekend yoga retreats and ice baths, but if that’s your thing - great! Self care can be any activity you do that fills your cup. And in my opinion, it’s the small simple things you can weave into your daily life that make the real difference.

So, let me give you the best places for self care in the Sutherland Shire, in my opinion!

Starting off strong with The Loft in Taren Point (they’re also in Cronulla!), my favourite place to move my body for Barre and Pilates!

I have enjoyed a variety of different forms of movement for my self care over the years, from weightlifting to Zumba to dancing, and right now I am loving taking some time to move mindfully with Barre and Pilates at The Loft. If you’ve never been, come along and try it out with me, they have a great introductory offer!

Next we have one of my absolute favourite ways to really switch off from the world for an hour or two, with facials and beauty treatments at Endota Spa in Cronulla.

I love walking into this tranquil space and completely relaxing in expert hands. Taking an hour or so for myself like this is perfect for those days where I really just need some time out to recharge. At the moment, I’m loving their hydro microdermabrasion facial treatment - it’s so far been serving as great preparation for my upcoming wedding!

Then we have The Best Little Bookshop in Town, which as the name suggests, really is the best bookshop in The Shire!

I love popping in here for a quiet moment, and browsing through their beautiful collection of books and selecting a keeper. I’ve also started getting back into their bookclub which I used to attend pre-COVID. Bookclub is such a great way to keep me accountable with my goal of reading more throughout the year, and it’s such a lovely regular community to see every month! At the moment I’m reading the bookclub book “Hard by a Great Forest” by Leo Vardiashvili, and love it!

Okay, now no self care list is complete without mention of the best burgers in the Sutherland Shire: Paul’s Famous Hamburgers.

Now your preferences might be different to mine, but for me, one of my favourite ways to indulge in self-care is to enjoy some of my favourite foods - and the burgers at Paul’s are well and truly up on that list! Add on a peanut butter milkshake and I’m a happy girl! One of the greatest things that my work at the Butterfly Foundation has taught me is that whilst food is definitely fuel, it’s also meant for fun and pleasure, and a burger and peanut butter shake serve me well for that!

And of course, I need to round off with a special mention of Messina Miranda - need I say more?

If you’re yet to experience the joys of Messina, you are in for a treat my friend! Messina is THE BEST gelato, with a variety of flavours (and a special every week!), there is absolutely something for everyone here.

I want to round out this list with the most profound act of self care you can do, therapy in Caringbah with me.

I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to vent about your struggles, unpack your thoughts, and support and guide you to help navigate life’s challenges so that you can live your most fulfilling life. For me, going to therapy has been one of the most profound acts of self care I’ve ever done, so if you’d like to give therapy with me a try, just get in touch here - nothing is too big or too small to talk about.

This is my list of the best self care in The Shire, and yours might be different, but if you’re low on ideas for what to do, I hope these spark inspiration for you!
